The client, one of the world's top 10 financial services groups, provides a wide range of banking, consumer finance, insurance and wealth management services to customers across the world. To deliver these services, it has data-centres across the globe connected by wide area networks which handle transactions worth billions of pounds every day.
The client had recently been involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions which required the integration and deliver of additional services which had placed increased strain on its data centres. In particular, one of its major UK data-centre was reaching capacity both in terms of space and cooling, and had experienced a number of significant operational issues resulting in loss of revenue. With expected demand to increase by a further 30% over the next 12 months alone, the problem was becoming business critical.
